The EGEL at Monash University

The Environmental Geochemistry Experimental Laboratory (EGEL) is based in the School of Earth, Atmosphere & Environment at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

Our research team uses geochemistry to understand and tailor anthropogenic and biologically mediated element cycling at planetary surfaces. Our research strengths are in aqueous and sediment geochemistry, environmental mineralogy, and isotope geochemistry.

We are developing new science for carbon mineralisation (CO2 sequestration), heavy metal trapping in minerals, and the identification of microbial biomarkers on Earth and other planets.
